History
The Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple was built in 1780 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, one of the most prominent rulers of the Gaekwad dynasty which ruled Baroda State, now known as Vadodara. The temple was constructed as part of his plan to promote religious harmony and peace in the city. The construction of the temple took around three years to complete and cost about Rs 4 lakhs at the time.
The temple houses deities of both Vishnu and Lakshmi, with a large idol of Lord Vishnu or Lord Laxmi Narayan seated on an ornate throne surrounded by idols of various other gods and goddesses.
